"We have a right to make a profit!"
On the morning of October 6, 2012, I sat at the desk I occupied at Bank of America and listened to the above statement. I had been a Personal Banker for just over 3 years, had been through the up and downs (mostly downs) of the economy and had dealt with the numerous windfalls that came with working at a company directly responsible for the outrage felt by the people of the country of it's namesake. I became unfortunately placated with my daily dealings of BOA's ludicrous dealings with the public and its perception of my employer. But with the one single line uttered by our CEO, in response to public outrage over yet another bank fee (this one even more ridiculous to those before it), my eyes were suddenly open.
I spent the next few months disgusted and with one foot out the door. I'm happy to say that I now have both feet out the door! But what remains with me to this day is the direct knowledge of the deceptive practices that led to millions in profits for the bank and lighter pockets for those living paycheck to paycheck. I'm here today to share my knowledge with you and help you be better informed and get the most out of your bank. With each post I will highlight a hidden fee you might not know about, a policy or practice of the bank that grossly benefits the bank only or ways to ensure your getting everything you can out of your bank whether it be interest rates, fees or proper products and services.
The banks might have a right to make a profit but you have a right to not be screwed.
